Hi, my name is Phong. I’m from Vietnam.
My mom and dad still live in Hanoi - the capital of Vietnam.
My younger sister, a university student, lives with me in a small apartment in Shibuya ward in Tokyo.
And we love it here. we’re having a great time.
To deal with living far away from our parents we usually make a video call to them every weekend.
We’re very happy!
I went to Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology and I graduated in 2014.
My major is information technology with fundamental computer science, software development, and computer networking.
I studied lots of different things, but mainly software development.
Then I came to Japan and I went to a Japanese school for preparing of graduate school admission exams, but I didn’t take the exam…
I thought that was not the right time for my master degree so I decided to do it after I gain a few years of working experience.
Then I applied to my current company as a software engineer in 2016. While in Japanese school, I was doing a part-time job of programming, therefore I have so far more than 3 years of programming experience in Japanese companies and I really love it. I don’t call myself a programmer, though. I like to call myself a developer. Because I not only did write code to make a software application, but I also created several plans, did basic/preliminary and detail design, wrote the code, and published them to many application stores such as Apple store and Android market.
My hobbies are reading and hiking. I moved to a new apartment near Keio line recently, and I like to hike in Mount Takao. It’s not really a difficult challenge like Mount Fuji but it’s good for a beginner like me. I love reading, I love Japanese novels as such by Haruki Murakami and definitely software development books. And I like learning multiple foreign languages, besides learning English and Japanese I have tried to learn Thai, Chinese and Korean.
In the future, I want to continue developing software. I really love it. However, I really would love to take a master course to dig deeper into the extensive knowledge of computer science. That’s my dream.
